Hung out with a philosophical panda yesterday. He didn’t see things in just black and white which was pretty refreshing.
So, a few weeks ago I went to Forbidden Planet and bought myself a t-shirt. They only had a XXL so, what did I do? I bought it anyway and made a t-shirt dress out of it. Owning a sewing machine and having a minor in fashion means I can still be a crafty girl.
Midtown Comics has the Amazing Spider-Man movie logo shirt only in XXL too. Guess what I’m going to be doing once I get that on Saturday. And that makes TWO things I can wear to NYCC 2012 come October. ^ㅂ^ Also back and forth about that Robin shirt I saw…
And my face is because I don’t take myself seriously enough to pose like a model so…yeah. And I’m not that tall…I’m standing on a stool because my camera was atop my dresser. AND I’m holding my Spidey lanyard that holds my Comic Con pass.
My first day as an official Savannah College of Art & Design Alumnus! I graduated Magna Cum Laude, and I was shaking when I got to the stage, but when I heard the cheers from my friends and parents, I calmed down and walked across.
It was exciting and nerve racking, but we all got through it and I was able to spend it with my friends. Tomorrow I’m leaving to make my big move up to New York and hit refresh on everything because once I’m settled in, I will officially be a real person. It has been a great time and sporadically, it hits me really hard that I won’t get to see those who I have become close with as easily, but in this day and age, we’ll find ways to see each other again and I’m ready for the next step.
To those I didn’t get to see, take pictures with, and/or say goodbye (it’s never final), I’m really glad I got to know you and I wish nothing but the best. I hope to see you soon when we’re all where we are supposed to be.
The only way I can express how I really feel is through the words of Marina Keegan, a Yale student who passed away, but wrote an amazing piece for the graduating class of 2012:
We don’t have a word for the opposite of loneliness, but if we did, I’d say that’s how I feel at Yale. How I feel right now. Here. With all of you. In love, impressed, humbled, scared. And we don’t have to lose that.
We’re in this together, 2012. Let’s make something happen to this world.

Thanks for everything you guys, and I’ll really miss all of you.
What are you scared of the most?
I’ve been binging on Korean Dramas for the past week and one of my all-time favorites is “Shut Up Flower Boy Band” which I got in the mail today. I wish the title wasn’t as ridiculous as it sounds, but I don’t care, I love it. Watching K-Dramas lately has me wanting to work on my Korean even more (it’s surprising what you can learn from watching the shows and listening to the music).
The story is wonderful and there’s a lot of heart in every character. I’m wiling to say I will purchase every edition of it that comes out (especially since I just bought the cheaper economy edition).
I’m building a portfolio site too at the moment and slowly working on art. But if anyone is interested in good Korean Dramas, check this one out for sure. That and I’m in love with “My Princess” as well!
Gonna try to paint again tonight. So let’s see.
The above picture depicts how I’ve been feeling this week. Simply goofy. (And I’ve been blonde for about a week now for those of you who have sent messages asking me)
This weekend my Constructive Dinosaur Anatomy class drove out to the Critter Farm for photographic and empirical research for our own dinosaur drawings and sculptures. With this we get to look at actual lizards and other reptiles (I’ve been allowed to hold a baby alligator several times) as well as birds and armadillos.
Of course, they don’t just have the animals mentioned. The owner had dozens of tea cup pigs (one of which I fell in love with and wanted to take him home; she even offered to give him to me because she had so many pigs and is expecting two more litters) and several bunnies and tortoises.
I was able to hold a baby bunny that was only a few days old and their eyes hadn’t even opened yet. The mother bunny let me reach in and take him from the nest, while she attacked other students. :3
Being around such small animals had me fondly remember my flying squirrel, Puck, who was in my life a few years ago. I miss him a lot and it’ll be almost a year since he’s been gone.
When the movie Despicable Me was released last year, many of my friends immediately told me that Agnes was me except that instead of pandas and Rilakkuma, she was obsessed with unicorns. I didn’t get to really celebrate Halloween last year, so this year I got it together, and who doesn’t love Agnes (aka ME)?
Happy Halloween everyone! Hope you can all enjoy it! I still have homework, but I’m getting through it and the Halloween show is tonight! And I’d love to see your costumes too (´∀`)
My friends distract me and I enjoy wearing bunnies on my dress.
(Taken on my friend’s phone)
Definitely a GPOY post, but I made a melty bead pendant tonight with some friends (and lots of thanks to Gretchen Wagner who had all of the beads and trays). I thought it would be funny to make a recognizable designer logo pendant. If it hadn’t been an experiment, I would have made it smaller.
This shows the stages of how I’m so proud, how big the Chanel logo is, and how embarrassed I am at how obnoxious I’ll look strutting around New York next weekend.
But it will be…Wirthit.
I woke up to the mailman this morning knocking on my door and to my drowsy excitement, I got my FujiFilm Instax 210! I’ve had the FujiFilm Instax Mini7 for about two years when I bought it in Hong Kong and I’ve been waiting to get the wide format camera for awhile. Now I finally have it in my hands with ten packs of film ready to use! I’m saving the film for my trip to New York at the end of the month and I can’t wait to capture instant memories :)
I wish I could use my old Polaroid camera, but that film is so expensive now. I’ll be overloaded with cameras in New York with the Instax 210, the Instax Mini7 and my digital camera (and even my camera phone)!
Yesterday I received one of the best surprises in my life. The day started out relatively rough, because everyone has those days, and I also realized some items I ordered were sent to my old address here. The current tenant called and told me one arrived and I biked over to get it and when he handed it to me, I was very confused because it was not at all what I ordered and I did not know the sender even though it was addressed to me.
The timing could not have been any better because instead, it was a birthday gift from Caitlin (my best friend from a previous post)! She bought me a gorgeous sterling silver and yellow gold bee ring because I’m a SCAD Bee (that and it was cute). It brightened my day so much to the point where I was about to cry. I told her the story immediately and it was lucky that I was in contact with the tenant just a few hours before about my other packages!
I have received so much love and I couldn’t ask for anything else. And it’s getting better because I’ll be going to New York in less than a month.
New artwork ASAP! Obviously I’ve been distracted this weekend :)
Some people have asked for me to give them a glimpse into my life because I normally do not post anything truly personal on here. I tend to keep it that way as I typically use this blog for my artwork, but I also post things that inspire me, so I guess this proves to be alright.
This girl has been a part of my life since I was about nine or ten years old and we met in ballet class. A few years later, she transferred to my middle school and we even went to high school together. She is one of my best friends who will always understand me even when I am outrageous and ridiculous (example above from our latest Skype date) and I am anxious for September because I’ll be visiting her. You all should be jealous because it’s hard to find an awesome friend like this. :3
She is one of the few people who inspire me and help me along the way.
My five-week 8AM class ended Thursday, but Pi and I can’t seem to get on a normal sleep schedule. Thank goodness I only have my 11AM class on Mondays and Wednesdays for the rest of the quarter.
Burned burned burned. I have the other two panels as well and I’m pretty pleased with the turn out :) Gonna see if I can get some wood stain finishes or just use some transparent acrylic washes in certain areas. I’ll figure it out tomorrow in class!
